The village is particularly well known because of its proximity to Mount Damavand, Iran’s highest mountain and a major destination for mountaineers.

One of Polur’s most important geographical features is its proximity to Mount Damavand, the great volcanic peak of the Alborz.
Mount Damavand
Damavand rises to approximately 5,610 meters and is the highest mountain in Iran and one of the most prominent peaks in the Middle East. Polur is an important access point and staging area for people traveling toward the Damavand climbing routes.
